The Central Baptist Church of Pittsburgh PA is prayerfully and actively searching for our next Pastor. We are seeking a Minister, called by God, to counsel, lead, and further the spiritual growth of this congregation. This one hundred and thirty-two (132) year old predominately African American church, located in the historical Hill District of Pittsburgh has a rich legacy of serving Christ, the City of Pittsburgh, and surrounding communities. We have been blessed to have only nine (9) Pastors and our tenth (10th) shall function as a leader according to the church’s current mission, vision, and values. The selected candidate for this position must have a love of God’s people, possess strong preaching skills, and have experience and qualifications to handle the affairs of the church according to 1 Timothy 3:1-7 and Titus 1:5-9. The selected candidate for this position must have a love of God’s people, possess strong preaching skills, have appropriate experience, and qualifications to support the affairs of the Baptist Church with the following gifts, skills, and qualifications:

• Must be an ordained by the Baptist Church
• Effective communicator that can prepare and deliver biblically based, stimulating, and spirit filled sermons
• Education: preferred post-secondary education
• Previous job experience: more than 5 years of pastoral experience preferred
• Experience leading baptism, holy communion, weddings, baby blessings and funerals
• Strong record of preaching and teaching experiences
• Leader who can shepherd the congregation on the path of continued spiritual growth
• Involvement working with and supporting the community

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Prepare and deliver sermons for Sunday worship services. Coordinate with music leadership, and lead in observance of ordinances
• Baptize, administer holy communion, weddings, baby blessings, funerals, biblical counseling sessions, and the right hand of fellowship
• Demonstrate skills and abilities to manage and promote growth of the church
• Adhere to the teachings of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ as the Under shepherd of the church
• Follows and enforces established relevant protocols and procedures as well as work with church members to implement new protocols as needed
• Visit and minister to members in homes, nursing care facilities and hospitals and/or assign other qualified individuals to this ministry
• Work with Deacons, Trustees, and Ministry leaders to carry out the mission and purpose of the church
• Establish a vision for church growth, diversification, and generational outreach
• Engage with the local community, municipality, and other local spiritual leaders
• The Pastor shall be a financial supporter of the church through tithes and offerings
• Shall participate in the business meetings of the church and special meetings as necessary
• Serve as the administrator over church office staff
